CPR is a highly stressful and time-sensitive event that places significant psychological and cognitive demands on healthcare personnel. Under such pressure, team members may experience anxiety, cognitive overload, tunnel vision, and impaired decision-making, which can negatively affect performance. Effective resuscitation teams rely on strong leadership, clear role allocation, and efficient communication to maintain coordination and minimize errors. Closed-loop communication and a shared mental model help ensure that all team members understand the patient's status and the treatment plan. Team dynamics are also influenced by hierarchy, as junior members may hesitate to challenge senior staff unless a culture of psychological safety encourages open communication and mutual support. Physical fatigue, particularly during chest compressions, can reduce CPR quality over time, making regular rotation essential. Successful teams maintain situational awareness by continuously reassessing the patient's condition and avoiding fixation on a single diagnosis or intervention. Emotional factors, especially during resuscitations involving infants, children, or traumatic circumstances, can further influence performance and decision-making. Therefore, effective CPR depends not only on technical competence but also on teamwork, leadership, communication, adaptability, and post-event debriefing to promote learning and continuous improvement.
